\What makes a car last longer and maintain its value? Well, it’s a no-brainer and most of you may already know that regular check-ups, using quality gas and oil, keeping your car clean and the way you drive your car can affect its value and how long it lasts. And who doesn’t want to extend the life of their car and have it run efficiently? If you think about it, the same concept can apply to your body. Here are the keys to keeping your body in good health for as long as possible:

1. Get regular check-ups

Just like the car you drive everyday, you are using your body every moment of the day. Once in a while, it is important to undergo annual inspections to be sure that you are at optimal health. At least once a year, see a doctor for a routine physical exam and health screening and see a dentist for a cleaning twice a year.

2. Fuel up on quality nutrition

They say that “you are what you eat” and it’s true! What you put into your body is what you get out. On a daily basis, fuel up on important oils such as fish, olive, flax seed or walnut oil and add a variety of fruits and vegetables to your daily diet. 3. Clean up the junk in the trunk

Have you ever noticed that with the more unnecessary stuff you pack into your car, the slower it moves and the more power and effort it needs to accelerate? Well, the same can happen to your body. 4. Rack-up mileage weekly

Cars that stay parked in the driveway and are not driven regularly have a chance of breaking down just as much as a car that is overdriven. Things can become rusty and clogged. Similarly, if your body stays sedentary for long periods, it can lose its function and even the metabolism can become rusty, clogged and slow. Make sure to go out for a spin at least 60 minutes a day. Jog, run, bike, swim, or do any activity that will help put some mileage on your body. 5. Check under the hood

A lot of times, it’s easy to focus on the exterior design of the car, but what matters most is what’s underneath the hood, which is the engine. Even if you have the best looking car on the block, without a quality engine your car will have little value.
