Being active is healthy. It’s as simple as that. Increasing your activity level can help with your overall wellness and help you build and maintain muscle mass, just to name a few. There are a lot more benefits that an active lifestyle can offer for your health. One additional positive effect is that being more active can help maintain your healthy blood sugar levels. In order for you to reap the rewards, you don’t have to work out strenuously for hours every day. Three to four times a week for thirty minutes to an hour is a good start, and small changes to your daily routine will add to your activity level.

Here are some examples on how to increase the amount of activity on a daily basis. Of course you can always go to the gym to work out but we wanted to list activities that you can incorporate into your daily routine.

  1. Walk. Have you ever caught yourself in a strip mall, getting in the car to drive across the parking lot from store A to store B? Stop! Turn off the engine and walk. This is one of the many opportunities to get some extra steps in. You can also park further away from the store entrance, walk to a coworker’s office instead of calling, or try to walk to places that are in a comfortable radius. For some people, this could be the post office down the street, for others it might be the bank a couple of miles away. Try to increase your walk radius, and always remember that you still have to walk back as well.
  2. Stretch. Stretching gets your blood flow going, helps reduce muscle tension and stress and keeps you flexible. Open the window after you wake up, breathe in the fresh air and stretch your arms, legs and back. Try to stretch several times a day, and focus on the body parts that need it the most. If you are working at a desk, those would be your neck, shoulders and back. If you work a job that requires a lot of walking, stretch your legs, especially your calves and hamstring, and your lower back. You can find stretches for all body parts online and it is a quick and easy way to treat your body to something good.
  3. Dance. Certainly you have heard of Zumba, the latest exercise trend in gyms across the country, where you dance to different types of music to get a good work out. And while Zumba is a great way to exercise for most people, you can dance anywhere. Put on your favorite music and dance in your living room. Dance while you brush your teeth. Dance while you vacuum and clean the windows. Don’t worry about how you look, just move your body to the sound of the music and have fun with it. You can go slow or you can go fast, all that matters is that you get some extra movement in.

Making Almased a part of your daily diet routine will help you get the extra energy you need to be more active.
